Excerpt

The Ford Foundation, established in 1936 with a gift of $25,000 by Henry Ford's son Edsel, has long been dedicated to providing funds to non-profit organizations and programs that advance human welfare throughout all 50 states and in more than 50 countries. Thanks to the Ford family's ongoing generosity and its trustees' careful management of assets, the Foundation is presently valued at $10.2 billion.
